Anadrol is the brand name for oxymetholone, a synthetic 17α-alkylated anabolic-androgenic steroid (AAS) derived from dihydrotestosterone. It is taken orally and was originally developed for medical use. The 25mg tablet strength is one of the available dosage forms (the most commonly referenced medical tablet is often 50mg; 25mg may appear in certain formulations or compounded contexts). Anadrol is commonly stacked with Testosterone Enanthate, Deca-Durabolin, Primobolan and Equipoise. A proper PCT is often required with Anadrol, usually Nolvadex or Clomid.
Quantity: 60 tablets
FDA-Approved Medical Use
In the United States, oxymetholone is FDA-approved primarily for the treatment of anemias caused by deficient red cell production, including:
• Acquired aplastic anemia
• Congenital aplastic anemia
• Myelofibrosis
• Hypoplastic anemias due to myelotoxic drugs
It has also been studied or used historically in other contexts such as certain forms of osteoporosis or severe weight loss (e.g., HIV-associated wasting), though these are not the primary current approved indications in the U.S. Response to therapy is often not immediate; a minimum trial of several months is typically required under medical supervision.
Mechanism of Action
Oxymetholone acts as an agonist of the androgen receptor. It stimulates erythropoiesis (red blood cell production) and has strong anabolic effects on protein synthesis and nitrogen retention. As a 17α-alkylated compound, it is orally bioavailable but carries higher risk of hepatic stress compared with non-alkylated androgens.
Medical Dosing (Prescription Only)
Typical medical dosing for anemia is individualized, commonly in the range of 1–5 mg/kg body weight per day orally (usual effective dose often 1–2 mg/kg/day). Therapy duration and exact dosing are determined by a physician based on response and monitoring of blood counts, liver function, and other parameters. Self-dosing is not appropriate.
Significant Side Effects & Risks
Oxymetholone carries substantial risks, especially with prolonged or high-dose use:
• Hepatotoxicity — cholestatic jaundice, elevated liver enzymes, rare cases of hepatic necrosis, peliosis hepatis, and hepatocellular neoplasms
• Androgenic effects — acne, increased body/facial hair, male-pattern hair loss, voice deepening, clitoral enlargement (in women), menstrual irregularities
• Suppression of natural testosterone production and potential testicular atrophy
• Fluid retention / edema, increased blood pressure
• Adverse lipid changes (particularly reduced HDL)
• Gynecomastia possible in some users
• Mood changes, aggression, or other psychiatric effects in susceptible individuals
• Cardiovascular strain
Women and adolescents face particularly high risk of irreversible virilization. It is contraindicated in pregnancy, prostate or male breast cancer, severe liver disease, and certain other conditions.
Long-term cardiovascular safety has not been fully established for non-medical use. Regular medical monitoring (liver enzymes, lipid panel, hematocrit, hormone levels) is required when prescribed.
Legal & Regulatory Status
• U.S.: Schedule III controlled substance. Prescription only.
• Banned by WADA and most sporting organizations.
• Illegal to possess or distribute without a valid prescription in the United States and many other countries.
Unregulated products sold online as “Anadrol” or “oxymetholone research chemical” pose additional risks of contamination, incorrect dosing, and legal consequences.
Strong Recommendation: Use only under the direct supervision of a qualified physician for an approved medical indication. Do not attempt to obtain or use this substance for bodybuilding, performance enhancement, or any non-prescribed purpose.
